College Updates: Week 9 - Term 1

Salutation

Greetings your Eminence and fellow AFC Family!

Admin Updates

The government announced this week that the lockdown has been eased to pave the way for a return to normalcy perhaps as early as next week or thereafter. This week only the Form 7 students are allowed to come to school to complete their registration for the University of the South Pacific. The senior teachers continue to prepare handouts for students to occupy themselves with during this lockdown.

Agriculture Project

We are delighted to know that the container of cassava for New Zealand has reached there safely. Mrs. Peta Tausinga Kennedy and the Executives have informed me that they can't wait to taste the manioke from Matahau! Yesterday, we harvested 84 more bags of cassava to be distributed among the constituents of Tongatapu 9, thanks to an initiative of our Hon. Minister Seventeen Toumo'ua. I was surprised to hear that a good number of people there don't have any root crops.

Harvesting the cassava has been a blessing in disguise for the staff as it helped them to keep fit and healthy.

Seen above is the manager, Mr. Taufa Halaholo, barking orders to students & staff.

Seen below is the Minister's truck that will deliver the cassava to his constituency.

Funeral of the late Sosefo Malu Tokelau Kolo

Today at 10AM was the funeral service of the late Sosefo Malu Tokelau Kolo. Despite the restrictions there was a good turn out from relatives, friends, and ex-students.

The eulogy was delivered by his eldest grandson Soane and backed up by the animating homily from the Vicar General as they both portrayed the wonderful and colorful life of the late Malu Kolo. On behalf of his Eminence, Cardinal Mafi, President of the Ex-students' Executives Committee, Mon. Lutoviko Finau, and the rest of the Apifo'ou Family, may I extend to you Mr. Francis Kolo, President of the Ex-students Association in the USA, and indeed the rest of the Kolo family, our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your beloved brother, Sosefo Malu Tokelau Kolo. Malu Kolo is blessed to have been buried during Holy Week, so that just as he has died together with the Lord, may his soul rest in the eternal peace of our Risen Lord.

Holy Week and the Easter Triduum

On behalf of the Apifo'ou Family may I wish you all a 'Grace-filled Easter Triduum'.

We will celebrate the Easter Triduum celebrations here at home with our small community at Apifo'ou. May I wish you all a Happy and Blessed Easter in advance!
