Salutation:
Greetings Your Eminence and fellow 'Apifo'ou Family!
Admin Briefs
This is the final week of Term 2. All the Mid-Year Exams have been completed today! Tomorrow's program will begin with the general cleaning-up of classrooms, both inside and outside. Once that is done we'll proceed to the Hall for the Thanksgiving Mass to round off a rather successful ending of the Term.
Mid-Year Exams
All the Levels from 1 - 7 completed their exams this week. It's such a relief that the exams were conducted well. It's up to the staff now to find time to mark the papers during the holiday. That said, there will still be holiday classes for Level 6 as part of strategies to prepare them well for the external exams towards the end of the year.
The number of students in Level 6 cannot all fit into the Option Block, so some are asked to sit outside on the veranda. Fortunately, the weather has been favourable!

Scholarship for Ms. Malia Tu'ineau
One of the teachers has been truly blessed with the generous donation from our ex-students in Seattle, USA. According to Kelemete 'Elika, there are only five in their group! Yet, they responded generously to my humble request to help with Ms. Tu'ineau's goal of completing her BSc degree from the University of the South Pacific. She only has one more Semester to do in order to complete her degree.
Malia knows very well that she has been very blessed to be the recipient of this act of generosity. She'll make arrangements with USP in Suva so that she can join them for Semester 2. Malo fau e 'ofa Kelemete mo e kaunga Kolisi Tutuku mei Fonua Lahi.
St. Mary's Library
Our St. Mary's Library continues to shine brightly with the colourful books donated from our Volunteer Program in Melbourne. A special part of that contribution went to the Enrichment Program. Ms. Singa Kaifoto, teacher in charge, could not stop smiling as she knew all too well the lasting positive effects of this gift upon her students.
Brass Band Donation
We had a surprise visit this week from the youngest daughter of the late Kosema & Isabella Finau. They brought a Trumpet for the college as a pledge in memory of their beloved parents. Fr. Valu Siua received this gift on our behalf. Malo e 'ofa lahi.
Voice Against Violence!
This was a new Billboard, bigger than the first one, and portrays a better and more recent picture of 'Aleki Siale. The NRL Staff in Tonga were present for the occasion.
AFC Agriculture Project
The college plantation at Hihifo looks promising for a good harvest this year. Looking at the size of the cassava stock we may anticipate a decent income for the college.
Sports
There will be more Teams playing this week as Soccer will begin on Friday. The Senior 1XV will face Tonga High School tomorrow and we expect a tough game. The Grade 1A & 1B will hopefully continue to maintain their winning forms tomorrow.
The celebration of the Eucharist above is an integral part of the preparations for the Senior Team. Seen below are the Grade 1 boys engaged in different styles of training as their Head Coach 'Alipate keeps on molding them into a formidable unit.
Fefinehenga Fisilau's 21st Birthday!
Last Monday, the Fisilau and Mateo families gathered at the college hall to celebrate the 21st Birthday of Ms Fefinehenga Fisilau. It was just a family celebration, but many friends of the two families turned out for the occasion in big numbers.
Seen above is the regal arrival of the birthday girl, accompanied by her two Nennas! Seen below is the ritual of Handing over the Key to the come-of-age girl.
The official VIP's posed for a photo below with the birthday girl. Lord Fakafanua, Lord Sevele, Monsignor Finau plus the parents posed for this unique souvenir photo.
Sons of 'Apifo'ou Called to Eternal Life!
Just this past two weeks we've lost three sons of 'Apifo'ou. These three gentlemen entered the college at different times. However, they all had something in common, in that they had exemplary records in terms of education and sports.
Seen above is Dr. Mumui Tatola RIP and that below is Mr. Semi Pulu RIP.
Seen here is the late and beloved Kusitafu Wolfgramm. May they all rest in peace.
Conclusion
Thank you very much for your prayers and support for our students during the exam period. The college will now have a two weeks break. However, the sporting competitions will continue. There will also be holiday classes for the Level 6 students. And we'll continue to pray for the happy repose of the souls of Dr. Mumui Tatola, Mr. Semi Pulu & Mr Kusitafu Wolfgramm, that they be welcomed into the light of His face!
