College Updates: Week 2 - Term 3

Salutation:

Greetings Your Eminence and fellow AFC Family!

Admin Briefs:

~ This is week 2 of Term 3. The teachers are working tirelessly to complete all the capture sheets with the students' marks from the Mid-Year exams. We aim to complete the reports by early next week and to have them distributed to parents after Mass next Friday.

~ The teachers continue with the coverage of syllabi hoping to complete them by the end of this month. The afternoon classes will begin in the first week of August.

~ The Hon. Minister of Education recently announced that there's a possibility for the external exams to be moved forward to the 3rd of October. Most of the Principals are against this and prefer to leave the exams at the normal time, which is around the 3rd week of October and would end by the 2nd week of November.

~ With normal programs at the college we resume our singing practice for our weekly Mass. Fr. 'Ofa is helping the music Team to prepare hymns for Friday.

New Classrooms:

Today was the final inspection carried out on the 7 new classrooms (photo 016). The engineers from Cardno (World Bank), officers from the MoE, Ca'Bella contractors, Sakopo Lolohea and I were the inspectors. As you can see from the photos (022) the new classrooms are looking good.

The contractors have requested for another week, especially at the St. Mary's Campus as they want to do some landscaping around the classrooms. They've kindly indicated that they might touch up the admin block with some painting to match the fresh looks of the classrooms!

Our Construction Committee is now preparing a tentative program for the official Opening of the classrooms which might take place on the 29th of this month.

Meanwhile, one can see the excitement in the eyes of the students who are still using the tents. They know that very soon they'll study in a proper classroom, and NO MORE TENTS!!

Library:

Our librarian Mrs. Seini Kisina is busy now resetting the library as it was defunct for the past two years! It is now located in the 3rd room of the Science Lab. She's currently assisted by our former Head Girl from 2018, Ursula Tai and her twin sister, Jasmine (photo 027).

Conclusion:

There's a good morale permeating the college and we're determined to keep building on that. Please continue to remember us in your prayers.

Viva AFC!
