Salutation:
Greetings your Eminence and fellow Apifo'ou Family!
Admin Briefs
Our focus for this week was the coverage of the Syllabus. All the efforts of the teachers and students were concentrated in the classrooms. Meanwhile, the Reports for Mid-Year Exams were distributed to the parents on Thursday and Friday.
The remaining Teams in the Playoffs continue to prepare for their respective games. The Soccer Teams are still in the round stages. Only the Intermediate and Senior Netball Teams are in the Playoffs. As for the Rugby, the Grade 1B lost to Toloa in the finals yesterday 10 - 12. The Senior Boys gave all their hearts in their rain-filled semifinal against Toloa but lost in the end by 1 point (5 - 6).
TIP Essay Competition
This morning the World Day for the fight against 'Trafficking In Persons' event was held at the seafront. It was organised and funded by the US Embassy in Tonga. There were activities conducted to raise awareness on this global issue. The Essay Competition was won by none other than Likamoana Kautoke of 'Apifo'ou College, who had by the way already won a few National quizzes and competitions.

Activities of the week
The weekly Eucharist always takes center-stage in the life of the college. Seen here is Fr. Valu leading the Mass for this week.
Variety of Activities
The Level students continue to work on their Internal Assessment tasks. We're indeed grateful to the teachers and students for their commitment in this regard.

Seen here are the students in the Assembly being led by the Form 4M. Leading the weekly assembly is a wonderful learning curve as students stand from the front and even try to lead the event in English!

Sports
It was really wonderful to see the rugby boys played exceptionally well in the semi and finals yesterday. Likewise, the Netball girls performed really well. As mentioned earlier, Grade 1B lost to Toloa in the final and the Senior boys lost again to Toloa by 5-6. The Intermediate A Netball Team beat Queen Salote in the semi but lost to Liahana in the final.

Seen here are the senior boys during their game yesterday. Eleven of the boys in the Team are in the U17 upcoming Tour of NZ. Hence, I believe that we've laid a solid platform for the rugby season next year or at least that is the hope.

Queensland Reds
The Queensland Reds visited the college yesterday morning. They were inspired by the support of the teachers and students. The blessing from Apifo'ou helped them win convincingly yesterday against the 'Ikale Tahi, 41 - 14!
Seen in these photos are the welcoming session and the interactions of the Team with the staff and students of the college.
Catholic Principals
The monthly gathering of the Catholic Principals was held on Wednesday at Toutaimana. Since the two Principals from Ha'apai and Vava'u are here in Tongatapu, it was great to catch up with them. The meeting agenda always focuses on the needs of the various schools and institutions within the Catholic Education System. Seen below is the Director, Mr. Soane Vahe, and colleagues.
Ma'ufanga Ex-Students' Concert
Last night the ex-students of Ma'ufanga held their concert at the Sosefo Hall. This is part of the efforts to raise funds for the new Chapel of the college.
Seen above is the President of the Ma'ufanga Ex-students' Association Mr. Frank Halafihi, with his family in the opening item which is a tau'olunga. Frank's mum Mrs. Asela Mateo is always very supportive of the family's affairs. Seen below are the ex-students and friends of Apifo'ou that gathered for this fund-raising event.

The newly constructed house for the teachers is shaping up to be a beauty! We're grateful to 'Alani Mahoni and his contractors for the wonderful job so far.
