College Updates: Week 5 - Term 3

Greetings Your Eminence and AFC Family!

This is just a brief update to let you know of the latest developments

here. There is excitement in the air as the college is gearing up for

its first Passing Out Parade of our Cadets tomorrow. This is history

in the making as AFC is the first college in Tonga to have the cadet

training in its extra-curricular activities. We're very grateful to

Lord Ve'ehala who facilitated the first engagement with Lord

Fielakepa, Commander of His Majesty's Armed Forces, to arrange for the

soldiers to commence the training.

You can see from the clip above that some of the soldiers will join our brass band to

lead the parade tomorrow. It'll be a sight to behold as 1,300+ will

display their military drills. The event will begin at 10 local time

so if you want to watch it on live stream please log on to Paula Moimoi

Latu as he'll cover the whole show.

On Monday at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre, at the launching of the

World Youth Day, two of our students Jane Fe'iloakitau and Talilotu

Pulotu won the Oratory and Essay competitions, respectively. They were

both given $400 shopping vouchers at the Office Equipment shop in

town. This is part and parcel of our efforts to expose our students to

national competitions which will boost their confidence.

As I type this our U17 7's Team is playing at the Regional 7's

Tournament in Wallis. You can see from the photos that the boys are

excited about the trip and especially the welcome in Wallis. We're

grateful to Fr. Suni Halapio who is also looking out for the Team.

We're always grateful that another prominent ex-student, Fetuani Kula,

has arrived from Sydney to help with the teaching of Accounting &

Bookkeeping to our exams students. Fetuani will be with us for a

couple of weeks.

Once again, for those of you who live in Tonga and are free tomorrow,

please come around at 10 AM to witness the military display of

skills by our students. If you're living overseas, search for Paula

Moimoi Latu on YouTube as the Facebook system might be cut off tomorrow!!

Viva AFC!
