Salutation:
Greetings to your Eminence and fellow Apifo'ou Family!
Admin Briefs
The focus this week is the public exams for the Levels 6 & 7 students. We believe that we've done all that we could possibly do to prepare our students for these exams. The onus is now on them to give it their best shot. The Form 6 students have their exams at Tailulu. The Form 7 students have theirs at their own classroom here in AFC.
Seen here are our Form 7 students being called into the exam room by the Supervisor from the University of the South Pacific.
Seen below are our Form 6 students with all the students from the other schools at the Falemasiva Hall, Tailulu College.
The National Form 7 exams, which do not include our own Form 7, are being held at the Bishop Patelisio Finau and Knight Sofele Kakala Hall here at the college.
Form 7 students from various schools in Tonga enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at 'Apifo'ou. The Hall caters for almost 500 students who sit the Tonga National Exams.
These students are extra fortunate to be using the new furniture of the college!
Weekly Eucharist
Despite the loose program we now have at the college due to the public exams, we try to celebrate the Eucharist together as it's the lifeblood of all our school activities.
Since the Hall is occupied with exams, Mass is celebrated at the St. Mary's ground.
Daily Activities at the College
Each day has a different program. The aim is to keep the students occupied, but at the same time to enjoy the activities. Of course sport is always thoroughly enjoyed.
Taekwondo at the College
Seen above are the Taekwondo Instructors from Tonga TA who visited the college and talked to the students on the issues of self-discipline. We're proud that one of our students & a teacher traveled to Korea to take part in Taekwondo competitions.
Seen here above and below are Australian Volunteers giving talks on Substance Abuse and Cyber-Bullying. We're very grateful to Ms. Gladys Leger for organizing these extra curricular activities that are just as important for our students.
Eco Care Project
The school was visited this week by the Eco Care Team from Christchurch, led by Drs. Matthew Hughes and Ricardo, plus engineering students. They were here to check on the Project that they installed at the college two years ago.
This has been a wonderful project as the water from the tank is cleaned through a refinery system then through a pipeline to a tap, ready for consumption. There are only 3 schools in Tonga that are part of this project and thus AFC is blessed!
77, 78, & 79 Champions' Reunion
Last week many prominent ex-students of St. John's and St. Mary's gathered in San Francisco to celebrate their "Triple Crown" victories! This gathering was not just for the rugby players but for our champion netters as well!
We're still proud of this rare feat that these ex-students accomplished in those years! It's certainly great to see most of them are still in good health. A few are a bit out of shape but the main thing is that they all look happy and still proud of AFC.
Conclusion
May I extend to you all our heartfelt gratitude, to you our Apifo'ou Family for your continuous prayers and support for our beloved college.
May I acknowledge in a very special way our Alumni AFC 86 Onopooni (Australian Chapter) for their generous contribution of $2,500 toward the Prize Giving. Malo fau e 'ofa lahi.
