Greetings your Eminence and fellow AFC Family!
~ This is week 8 and we're rounding up our revision for the Assessment next week. The grading is 20 marks and the remaining 80 marks will be in the final exams. This is part and parcel of a strategy to gauge the overall progress of the students. This will also expose areas where interventions are needed prior to the external exams.
~ New Volunteer:
Mrs. Pelenatita Kara (nee Petelo) from 'Utulau started this week helping out in the Form 7. She picks up from where Mr. Paku Tausinga left off. We're indeed grateful to our own ex-students who generously offer their service to the school.
~ Afternoon Study:
We're very grateful to Fr. Falakiko and the parishioners of Pea who are feeding the students this week (photo 063). It's such a joy to witness the care and support that parents offer to the college. We can only tell from the faces of the students how grateful they are. The onus is now on the teachers and students to work hard and prepare well for the exams.
PTA Day 2020:
Last Saturday the staff, students, and parents celebrated PTA day 2020! With the restrictions and social distancing due to COVID-19, the college needed an event that animates life and enjoyment. Hence, the PTA day was the ideal occasion to celebrate the wonderful efforts of everyone during this difficult passage of our journey (photo 011).
We're indeed grateful to His Eminence, Cardinal Mafi, for gracing the occasion (photo 7271). His presence was very affirming to the college of the paternal care and leadership he renders to AFC and the rest of our Catholic institutions.
The Form 7 students did the honors by performing the first item (photo 7282). This group of students realize that each event they participate in this year is their final. It's only fitting that they are being honored occasionally.
New Construction & Reconstruction:
The Ca'Bella contractors cemented the beams for the foundation of the 4 new classrooms yesterday (photo 056). They'll fill the rest of the foundation and get them ready to be poured with concrete next week.
Happy Feast Day on the memoria of St. Monica, mother of St. Augustine, whose feast day is tomorrow. It's a powerful image of a totally committed mother to the cause of her son. She followed in the footsteps of the Virgin Mary, who followed her Son Jesus right up to the foot of the cross while His disciples abandoned Him.
It's only fitting that we seek the intercession of St. Monica and may her piety and dedication inspire us to persevere in our prayers and acts of charity.
