14th - 18th April Week 1 TERM 2

Highlights

  • Finally, the athletic sports are done and dusted, and the school has returned with high spirits and lots of memories from Teufaiva field for both students and teachers.

  • 5M lead the school's assembly this week with an on-point theme 'Love' which summarizes the 'Holy Week' which we are at.

  • In the assembly Fr. Valu Siua sm. acknowledged the students that participated in the Samsung 'Solve for Tomorrow' competition and also give their tablets to each of the 4 students and cash for the 5th. Summarizing this '8 students participated at the beginning named Lavinia Helepiko, Lucielle Bloomfield, Malia Fatima Fifita, Sipiliano Tonata, Marist Ngauamo, William Fa'a'oso,Guilio Paunga and Zayed Ali. Along the way, Luciell had other important obligations, Guilio committed to sports, and Malia Fatima was taken ill, and so left with 5 students only and they managed to devout into the project until the end'. I would like to extend our humble thanks to the students that did this project, the hard work and the devotion and not forgetting the support from the parents I can't thank you enough, but I hope that the achievements that these students have done made you all happy.

  • Fr. Valu continue with a vote of thanks and of course highlighting the sports achievements, The students were all cheering for the sports team and the marvelous accomplishments done by Lolesio Sailosi and the record breaker Lui Kali to name a few, not forgetting the sports committee and the parents who have been with the team since their boarding in school. Closing off with a BBQ for the accomplishments in the evening.

  • Students of Level 1 to Level 4 enjoyed the visitation from the 'Salvation Army visitors the 'New Zealand's Salvation Army National Band'. This band consists of students that are in high school, university and some of them are workers. This band as the Director of the Salvation Army Tonga introduced them are students that have a talent for brass band, and they are touring Tonga at the moment and 'Api Fo'ou accept their requests to visit our school before leaving that same afternoon. Our brass band performed an item and so did these students with variety of known songs. This was just a show for an hour but unforgettable for the students and also as the Bandmaster said, 'it is just an introduction to a music pathway'.

  • Though it is the holy week the school is filled with excitement as we are approaching our celebration of the 160th Anniversary. Levels are preparing their 'faiva' traditional dance for this celebration, as our program has allowed each level to practice after lunch.

  • 'Holy Thursday' as the day that marks the beginning of the Holy Triduum the school assembles at the Hall and Form 7 students performed the Last Supper; it was a heartwarming experience for all of us. Washing of the feet as Jesus did to his disciples Fe'ao-moe-lotu did perform washing of the feet with our Principal, Mazada Havea performed with Ms. Matangisinga Kaifoto representing St. Mary and Alexander Taulangovaka did perform with Mr. Viliami Fuapau representing St. John. This event is one of the very blessings and very fortunate for our students to witness this event though we know that they came from variety of religious background, but as Catholics we are surely proud.

Finishing off this week we are thankful for all the blessings that we had and the blessings we are having and the blessing that are to come. We wish you all a Blessed Holy Thursday and the continue of the Holy Triduum.
