College Updates: Week 1 - Term 2

Salutation

Greetings your Eminence and fellow AFC Family!

Admin Briefs

The college welcomes back the Form 6 students after the campus was considered safe and ready by the Ministries of Health and Education. A Team from the two ministries conducted the inspection of the college on Tuesday. Each school has to fulfill all the criteria and strict guidelines in order to be approved for reopening. All schools must score more than 80 points from 14 categories in order to be given the green light. Our teachers were over the moon when the Inspection team awarded 93 points to Apifo'ou College!

Frankly, the credit goes to all the staff as they really worked hard from last week up until Tuesday morning prior to the inspection. You'll be able to gauge from some of the photos below the wonderful efforts of both the teachers and students.

Seen above is the Chief Painter, Mr. Taufa Halaholo supervising the students and ensuring that the lines are painted straight.

A well deserved break by the female staff as Sr. Nesi preached about the importance of keeping the classrooms clean and tidy. Seen below are the retired Team Ha'amonga, Afeaki, Felise 'Ulupano and Ngutau.

The Inspection Team was very impressed with the efforts of the teachers. They even remarked on the fact that other schools have hired workers and contractors to do the necessary preparations, whereas at AFC the teachers themselves did them all.

Returning to School

The Form 6 students returned to school on Wednesday and we can tell from the faces of parents and students alike that they were grateful that they are back to classes. They have to follow the drills: At the gate the teachers on duty would check their Vaccination Card and Mask; Arriving at the Drop Off point, their temperature would be scanned using a Thermal Gun before being allowed into the classrooms.

Teachers on Duty

There are different teams of teachers manning the Entry Gates and the Drop-Off Points. It's wonderful to see the cooperation among the staff as they ensure that all the protocols are followed for the safety of our students.

Conclusion

May I extend to you all our sincere gratitude for your prayers and support for the college during the recently prolonged lockdown period. We're back to business!

Viva AFC!
