College Updates: Week 9 - Term 4

Salutation:

Greetings Your Eminence and fellow AFC Family! I know that this is a hectic time for everyone as the academic year 2020 draws to a close.

Admin Briefs:

~ This is week 9 and it's the penultimate one! The focus of course is the Annual Prize Giving this Friday.

~ To keep the staff and students occupied at this time, we're hosting a Soccer competition today. We're very fortunate that the Tonga Football Association is facilitating the tournament, as seen in a photo further down below.

Annual Prize-Giving 2020:

This annual event will be held at the Sir Sofele & BP Patelisio Finau Memorial Hall. It'll begin at 10 AM. Please take note that the event will be on livestream. For those overseas who wish to watch the event, there are a few links that you may be able to catch it on: Paula Moimoi (YouTube); 87.5 FM; Filo 'Akau'ola (talakionline).

We're indeed indebted to a few individuals and families who have responded to the call for help from the college. On the same token we extend our heartfelt gratitude to those who have perpetual trophies and sponsorships that are offered annually.

Amazingly, some of these individuals prefer to be kept anonymous. At the same time, we'll acknowledge all the donors as their corresponding prizes are announced.

The first photo above shows the Alumni Group 2010 - 2016 presenting money prizes in honour and remembrance of the late Sosaia Vaka who was their classmate.

Construction work:

The next few photos show the good progress of the construction work. We're grateful to Paea and his men for working tirelessly to complete them by the end of next week. The Kalapu Lalo Kasia is preparing a special lunch for them today as part of our efforts to boost their morale!

Radio Apifo'ou:

Photo below shows the excitement of the staff and students as they know that all the equipment for our Letio Apifo'ou have finally arrived. We're indeed grateful to the President, Mr. Francis Kolo, Manager of the Radio, Mr. Felise Tonga Finau, and the rest of the Executives of ex-students USA for this momentous gift to the college.

We'll focus on the Prize Giving and after that we'll set up the radio station from here.

Conclusion:

May I reiterate our words of gratitude to all of you who have contributed generously to the college throughout the year. We're almost there and we look forward to end the academic year 2020 on a high note.

A reminder once again that the Prize-Giving will commence at 10 AM on Friday should you wish to catch it on livestream.

Viva AFC!
