College Updates: Week 9 - Term 4

Salutation:

Greetings your Eminence and fellow Apifo'ou Family!

Admin Briefs

This is officially the final week of this academic year 2024. We still have a few important events in the coming week, but today marks the end.

Annual Prize Giving

Today the college held its Annual Prize Giving at the Bishop Finau and Knight Sofele Kakala Hall. The Chief Guest was the Vicar General, Monsignor Lutoviko Finau. The school's Prize Giving is always a joyful occasion, as all the teachers and students gathered to celebrate the achievements of the year. The Dux of 'Apifo'ou College for 2024 hails from Lofanga, Kolovai, Longoteme, and Folaha, Ms. 'Amelia Melinda Vaihu.

Seen here above are our Form 7 students, posing for the last time in AFC's uniform. Seen below are the two Head Prefects of 2024, Fe'ao mo e Lotu and Lose Tausinga.

Seen above are some of the staff as they prepared to process inside the hall.

Seen above are the Form 7 students once again with 'Apifo'ou's perpetual Principal.

The President of the PTA, Mrs. Malia Lita Fisilau, presented first the Prizes for Level 1.

Closing Mass

The Closing Mass for the college was held on Wednesday. It's always fitting to mark the end of the academic year with the Eucharist. The year kicked off with the Mass, and now we end it by glorifying God for the many blessings bestowed on us in 2024.

The Form 7 students led the Penitential Rite by singing "Father I have sinned..." It's only fitting that they led this rite, as this was their last official Eucharist at the college.

Farewelling the Picpus Brothers

We have been blessed this year that 3 Postulants from the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, also known as the Picpus Fathers, helped us out this year. They were Patelisio, Mark, and Tony who worked mostly at the junior levels.

Renovation Works at St. Mary's Campus

As part of the 60th Anniversary celebrations of St. Mary's High School, their Alumni have marked it by funding this project. The verandas of classrooms at St. Mary's Campus badly need some repairs, so this project is most welcome and timely.

Conclusion

May I take this opportunity to thank you all most sincerely for all your prayers and support for our beloved college 'Apifo'ou, which had enabled us here at the college to end this academic year successfully.

By the same token, may I take this opportunity to acknowledge all your support for me personally during my tenure here of 6 years and 4 months at the helm. Frankly, it's been an enormous privilege to serve in this Alma Mater of ours as its Principal.

Lastly, I humbly seek your forgiveness if I had failed in any way to carry out to the utmost my various responsibilities here at the college.

Frankly, I'll leave 'Apifo'ou with a profound sense of fulfillment. I've given it my utmost best, and the college is now in a better state I hope than when I found it in mid-2018. The future of Apifo'ou is bright and promising as I leave it in the safe hands of the oncoming Principal, Fr. Valu Siua SM, who will need all our support more than ever!

I'm also sharing here bellow my Principal's Report for this year's annual Prize Giving.

Viva AFC!
